News Around the 'Net

Here at Technically Learning, we like to dig up cool news stories on the internet and share them with you, so that you have a chance to learn as much as our students do. In fact, if you sign up to follow us on Twitter, we'll be sure to pass along the best in scientific discoveries, mysteries and anomalies the web has to offer.

In the meantime, here are a few TL-related stories to keep you updated until the new year:
  • Want some family fun time this holiday season? eHow has an article about building homemade cars and making them move through wind power, elastic potential energy and electricity. In addition to citing a NASA article about rocket cars, the authors of this article cite Technically Learning's rubber band car guide (used in our K-2 classrooms) as sample instructions for building your own speed racer. How cool is that?
  • Looking to ease your tax burden in the spring? One of the best ways to do so is to make charitable donations by the end of 2009 -- that's 10 days away! According to financial planning site Mint.com, "when you donate to a 501(c)(3), everybody wins." Well, since they mentioned it, Technically Learning is a 501(c)(3). Your donation in 2009 can help classrooms full of students realize their academic potential in 2010, 2011, 2012. . . Each robotics kit and curriculum guide affects dozens of students, now and in the years to come, so a donation that gives you tax benefits this year will ripple through our academic communities for a long time after. Make a donation today by clicking the "Donate Now" button on the right side of this page.

We hope you have a healthy and happy holiday season!
